AVON, ON – If you're looking for the best place to play golf in Ontario it's time to tee it up at Tarandowah Golfers Club. The 30 panel members for Ontario Golf magazine's bi-annual rankings have played hundreds of courses across the province, and the world for that matter, and they have overwhelmingly given the London area layout a big thumbs up.

With the popular magazine now available in many clubhouses across the province and the results available on-line at www.golfontario.ca it's easy to see and understand how Tarandowah has quickly become the No. 1 best value in Ontario golf for $65 or less. Prime time green fees range from $42 Monday to Thursday and $48 Friday to Sunday including holidays.

Here's what some of the panel members had to say in the 'Best Bang for Your Buck' feature.

"A striking and utterly unique, genuine-links layout designed by Open Championship doctor Martin Hawtree, a couple of hours outside Toronto, for less than $50 on the weekend? There is surely no tougher, more entertaining test of golf for the money anywhere in the province," says avid golfer James McCarten.

"Holy Smokes! If you had to pay your green fee after you played this course you'd expect to pay $100. To your amazement, it's nowhere near this. It's truly one of the best courses you will play," says Craig Loughry, GAO Director of Handicapping and Course Rating.

"Tarandowah is the most genuine links experience one can have without making a 5-hour flight. Worth playing for twice the price," says blogger and golf writer Robert Thompson.

Tarandowah won 'Best New Golf Course in Ontario' in 2008 from both OG and Fairways magazines and in 2009 was selected the 'Best Value' in the London Area by the London Free Press and 'Best Value in Ontario' by SCOREGolf magazine.

"You need a great golf course and a good business model to be able to provide a quality golf experience at an affordable price. Tarandowah has the luxury of having both. The recession didn't squash people's love of golf; it merely stomped on their taste for expensive golf," says Ted McIntyre, Editor of Ontario Golf magazine. "Passionate golfers don't want to miss out on a buzz, and there's lots of buzz around this course. You've got to play it once. And then you'll want to turn around and tee it up again the moment you walk off the 18th green."

To celebrate being named 'Best Bang for the Buck', Tarandowah has initiated a 2011 membership drive at some great rates. A base membership of full golfing privileges can be purchased now for just $1,399 with the special bonus of being able to play out the remainder of the 2010 season for free! Tarandowah has also introduced a Half Membership package for golfers who don't play as frequently, but would still like to belong to the Club.

Tarandowah is a challenging 5,380 to 7,067-yard, par-70 layout that's a little on the wild side. The serene countryside layout is defined by rolling windswept fairways, gnarly fescue, undulating greens and 106 tiny pot bunkers that have been scattered literally - everywhere. The Club is located eight minutes south of the 401 Highway/Putnam Road exit on the south side of the Village of Avon. Tarandowah is 15 minutes east of London and 30 minutes from Brantford.
